Greetings from L’Auberge du Lac in Lake Charles, Louisiana!

Hello, my name is Larry Lepinski, and as General Manager of Louisiana’s premier casino resort, I want to welcome you to our newest website feature—our guest forum. I hope you find this to be a convenient tool for sharing ideas and feedback with L’Auberge management and with your fellow guests.

Periodically, questions will be posted on this forum as we seek feedback on new programs, promotions and offers. Sumer Baugh, our Guest Experience Manager will also help me manage this forum. Other members of our executive team may also provide comments from time to time.

In 2008, we held the grand opening of a beautiful new 250 hotel room addition, we launched the company-wide mychoice program, and we continued the design and pre-construction phases of our future sister resort, Sugarcane Bay. We have big plans for 2009 and we’re looking for your feedback. What is your favorite L’Auberge experience? What do you suggest as we continue to expand? In what areas would you like to see improvement? I think you get the point…this forum is just one more way to keep the lines of communication open.

I’ll get the ball rolling with this question: Have you ever stayed in our hotel? If so, what did you think? If you have not stayed in our hotel, why is that?

I have stayed at L'auberge several times & always had an incredible time.  The lazy river is ridiculously wonderful in the summertime, the wait staff is very attentive, food is good & fun abounds.  Playoff times when Texans & Louisiana are both in the casino is the most fun I've ever had!  I've never had a bad experience, continue to come regularly & recommend you to others often.  I can't wait to see what Sugarcane Bay has to offer.  My only word of warning is languishing in the lazy river for hours (easy to do!) with too many stops at the lovely swim up bar might do you in when you put your feet on land again....take it from me!  Thank you for a wonderful quick vacation spot close to home (Clear Lake, Texas)!

My husband and I have stayed at LDL quite a few times....the last time was the most memorable, as we treated ourselves to a massage.  I highly recommend it, as well as recommend it be one way LDL could reward folks who visit often.  We have not received promotions lately, and human nature is that we forgot about how much fun it is, without the promotion to remind us

free rooms are great, they encourage folks to return, and I am sure you make up the room charge in what we spend on slots

by the way, you still have November calendar on the website....

Hello L’Auberge du Lac,

I just wanted to say that I had the chance to visit the casino for the second time this past weekend and I was again impressed by the consistent friendly customer service that your staff provided from the valet to the buffet!  The Sunday brunch buffet was excellent and the beverage service to the tables was very quick especially on the busy Saturday Night.

While I didn't get a chance to stay at the hotel the last two trips, rest assured that I will be in my next visit to Lake Charles.

As a poker player, I can't wait until Sugar Cane Bay opens.  I spoke with several staff members that said that the new development would likely have a poker room.  If this is the case, I don't think I would have any reason to go gambling anywhere else.  This is saying alot since I do travel to many other casinos in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Las Vegas.

Good Luck

I have visited L'Auberge du Lac many times...It seems to be the casino that fits our needs the best. I travel with my husband (who is in a wheelchair) and my elderly parents (mom in a wheelchair and oxygen) plus a 3 year old! I appreciate the isles in the casino being wide enough for the wheelchairs, its very hard to navigate when chairs are in the way. Once upon  our arrival my mothers oxygen had not been delivered by the local vendor and one of the employees called the vendor and asked for the delivery time and he personally delivered the oxygen to our room...The bellman knew it was not an emergency, we just had a very thoughtful bellman!!

I have visited other casino's and have actually been to Vegas lately....I was shocked to see that L'Auberge has newer and more exciting slot machines than most of casino's in Vegas. While I didn't visit every property in Vegas I would say I went into at least 12 casino's. They had the same slot machines  (in the same place) as they had the last time I visited which was over 5 years ago!

I do have one complaint and that is...why not open a play area (babysitting or daycare area) for the kids....If the big red boat can supervise childrens play why cant L'Auberge? While you have a game room for older children...we desperately need something for the little kids to do while parents are spending money in the casino...

Thanks for the good times, I can't wait to get there in a few weeks...

What a fabulous place to stay and play! From the moment we drove up and the valet greeted us, to the unfourtunate time we had to leave, everyone treated us with the upmost respect and friendliness! I would love to see a few more 'hotel packages' offered, for those of us who do not golf!!

Oh, and the pool, wow......love it!

Dear Alyssa, Thank you for your kind words; it is always nice to hear that we are meeting and exceeding the needs of our guests! We consistently strive to offer the very best gaming experience and guest service in the country! As a full-service luxury resort, we understand that our vast array of amenities hold appeal for families. However, gaming is our primary business. As a company, we fundamentally believe that gaming and children do not mix. Therefore, although we do provide amenities that are family friendly (pool, ice-cream, arcade), we do not market our casino to families nor do we offer structured children’s activities such as daycare. We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you at L’Auberge again very soon! -Sumer Baugh, Guest Experience Manager

Hello,
My husband and I have been there several times and L'Auberge is the best casino experience that we have ever had. I love that your casino is very clean and orderly. I have been to other casinos but you know the saying there is no place like home ,and that is how we really feel. I would love to stay over night but I don't ride elevators . Is there any way that you can accomedate my special need?

I was wondering if there is a way to access my "My Choice" card online.    How can we access a win/loss statement for last year?

This forum is a great idea.  Love, love LDL, and have visited several times since 2007.  My wife and I always have a great time, and everyone is very kind and helpful.  We have stayed at LDL at various times of the year, and particularly enjoy pool season.  We make very good "use" of the lazy river and the Tiki swim-up bar.  Some ideas we would have would be:

1.  Swim-up pool bar - This is a great idea.  However, sometimes children will be sitting at the stools, and the staff has to repeatedly tell them they can't sit there.  Since it is a state law, couldn't you put some kind of signage on the bar stating that you have to be over 21 to sit at the bar?  This would also free up seats for the adult patrons.

2. Hotel - Please don't think we are anti-kids, but could there be the possibility of having a separate adult-only area of the hotel, possibly a few floors of adult-only rooms?  This would be ideal for the gamblers who stay up at all hours and appreciate a quiet hallway.  This could be set up around the new wing that is off the adult-only pool.

3. Casino - The casino is great.  My wife's only beef is that there are only eight Game King machines wtih keno on them (next to the Stage Bar on the video poker machines), which is her favorite game, and she would love more of them.  Otherwise, the selection is great, and we do like that you bring in new machines frequently.

Everything else is fantastic.  The food is wonderful, the rooms are comfortable (my wife says sleeping in your beds is like "sleeping in the clouds"), and the staff takes good care of us.  We are very happy to visit, stay and play at LDL.  Thanks for everything.                 DASDEB

Mr. Alanis, Thanks for your comments. We know that Poker is all the rage right now! Unfortunately, L’Auberge is limited by law to 30,000 square feet of gaming space and we have not been able to include Poker in our current expansive gaming offerings. However, we are indeed planning a dedicated Poker Room for Sugarcane Bay so that our gaming guests have even more options for entertainment. So brush up on your game! -Sumer Baugh, Guest Experience Manager

Anonymous, Thank you for the post. We anticipate that the online mychoice feature will be available for you in summer 2009. Additionally, you may access a win/loss request via our website, simply click on the casino heading, then forms, then download the document that explains the process to receive your 2009 win/loss form. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance. -Sumer Baugh, Guest Experience Manager

My husband and I are planning a 2 night trip to L'Auberge du Lac in late March (Sun.-Mon. stay).  I do not see the March calendar with rates posted yet, although I can get a rate quote by punching in specific dates.  I've also looked at the posted package specials.

My question regards are the rates published online the best available or are there other rate specials I can find out about by calling the hotel directly?  I frequently see specials in the Houston Chronicle travel section, but they are usually only for the current month.  I would like to secure my stay in advance, but I'm also searching for the best deal.  My husband and I joined the Players Club when we passed through a couple years ago, but this will be our first visit since then, so I don't even know if our memberships are still valid?

I'm very excited about our upcoming stay and can't wait to relax and play the slots!  Thanks for the helpful information on the website.  I always enjoy reading about a place before I visit.

In regards to your request, we do not guarantee room types, however upon making your reservation you can request a guest room that is on the lower level floors. Upon checking into the hotel, notify the front desk agent of your request in an effort to ensure we show you where the accessible stairwells are located. Howdy folks!  Just a thought - in the newsletter that we receive each month, sometimes there will be some extra freebies like a 2 for 1 buffet, etc.  Also from time to time, we will receive extra bonus rewards for our 3 star level card, but the time frame to use these are usually very short, like only 2 or 3 days in the whole month.  If you are not a local and live out of state, it's very difficult to take advantage of these offers.  Maybe they could be available for the whole month so eveyone, especially us out of staters, could use them.

It looks like LDL might have all that I'm looking for in an escape destination. One question: I would like to sail my boat up the Intracoastal Waterway from Galveston to your Hotel/Casino. Do you have a marina facility near by?

My husband and I have visited and stayed at LDL many times and have always had a wonderful stay.  Last weekend (Feb. 06-0 during our stay we encountered a few snags.  I am happy to say that when the problems were reported they were promptly rectified.  However, it's just my luck that on Jan 01 the power went out and then again last weekend.  I'm going to keep visiting, so get those generators fired up!

I would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to all the staff.  They do their job with professionalism, courtesy, and a smile.

We've stayed at LDL twice and both times were very nice. The rooms & service were excellent. We also enjoy the restaurants. We drive over from SE TX regularly with my 95 year old grandmother. I think these trips may be the most fun she's ever had.

I've played the golf course a number of times and always enjoyed it. One suggestion would be discounts or promotions for the golf course.

Thanks,
Jim

My husband and I visit 4-5 times a year.  It's a 6 hour drive for us from San Antonio but we've always had incredible stays.  What I like most is the presence of security.  We've visited casinos in the past where you're afraid of pockets and purses.  The casino has a very secure feeling.  We just returned last night from another wonderful stay.  The staff is very friendly in the casinos and dining and shopping areas.  We spend very little time in the room but always feel "at home" when we visit.  We've recommended L'Auberge to numerous friends who've had the same marvelous experiences that we've had and return as often as they can.

I have never stayed at your hotel yet, but we are about to remedy that.  Myself and 5 friends from work are taking our first girls only vacation in 5 yrs! We will be there on Feb. 27th, 28th, and Mar. 1st, 2009.  We are counting the days now and cannot wait!  If everything lives up to the reports of friends and your commercials, this should be a fantastic trip for us.  Hope you are ready to give us some comped rooms to bring more friends this summer!!!!! We will repost after this weekend and let you know how we liked it!!!! 4 days and counting.

My husband and I used to come there monthly since opening and always enjoyed our weekends.  Due to him having a stroke and heart attack, we have not been there in about 18 months so we lost all our comps.  I just booked a fantastic $99 Sunday stay in March and can't wait to get back and build up our play status.  He still enjoys playing blackjack and I love the slots.  We always enjoy our hotel rooms, the wonderful restaurants and golf.  No other hotel/casino venue compares to LDL.  First Class all the way!  We wouldn't stay anywhere else because everything you would ever want is all under one roof!

I just was a guest (as I have been numerous times before) at your hotel and casino last night (Sunday Mar. 1). In my past visits on Sunday nights and weekday nights, I did not have a difficult time finding blackjack tables that were $15 minimums. All day Sunday and even Monday morning at 7 a.m., the blackjack tables were all $25 limits. I was highly disappointed that on a weekday morning there was nothing a bit more accommodating to players of all betting ranges. On Sunday, I was so frustrated with the crowds and table limits, that I drove out to Coushatta, where they had $5 dollar shoes and $15 pitch tables. I continue to patronize L'Auberge because the comps are terrific, as is the hotel and dining options. However, the casino is becoming so exclusive that I feel that the casino will not be receiving much of my business anymore. I realize that when you only off $25 tables, people will play. I did and lost (as it seemed everyone else did too), but I will not be donating more of my money to a casino that does not cater to all types of gamblers.

Hi.  I was wondering when Pinnacle is going to merge the My Choice card program.  We play both in Shreveport at Boomtown and at LDL, and would love to have the points/comps merged, not to mention only needing to keep up with one card rather than several.  Thanks.

Great question!  Plans are in motion, but we are waiting on the appropriate technology that will maximize the positive impact of being ‘connected’.  At this time, we are not offering a solid date, but as a company, we are looking forward to the universal card solution.

My husband & I stayed just this past weekend, and had a great time, but we were also very disappointed with the minimums on the card tables, and dice tables.  We would have played more if the mimimums were not so high.

This forum is a great idea.  My husband and I really enjoy coming here for the food, the games and all the wonderful staff.  We have a wonderful casino hostess and she always makes our stay the greatest.  The Spa is so relaxing and the salon is the only one I want to get my hair done at.

I really do not have any adverse comments about this place.  What few snags we have had, have been resolved.  It's a great place for friends to meet.

OK Larry, I have been a player for some time at LDL, and I have been told that when Sugarcane is built. There will be a poker room. If so, will it feature tournaments, in house or satelite. This is something that lacks in this area. If I want to play a good tournament I would have to go to Biloxi. As a member of the National Pokers alliance, we would sure appreciate a good poker room, that does have tournaments, and within driving range of Houston.

You do have the best accomidations, with a awsome pool to relax at. This was a seller for me and my wife. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see Sugarcane start going up.

Hi there, Action Jack! This question comes up a lot!  We are indeed planning a dedicated Poker Room for Sugarcane Bay so that our gaming guests have even more options for entertainment.

Dear Mr. Lepinski,

I have been visiting the L' Auberge du Lac Resort since you first opened in May 2005. I have been a 4-Star MyChoice Card Member and previously a Plantinum Member for the past three years. I wanted to take this opportunity to simply say, "Thank You for providing an excellent place to escape to from the hectic pace of living in Houston." There are so many positive aspects of your casino that I don't know where to begin. Let me just start with the personnel who work there. Their service and attitude are second to none in comparison to any other casino that I have ever visited. My Executive Host - Portia Guillory is absolutely a wonderful person both personally and professionally. She always makes my stays at L' Auberge perfect and memorable. The various dinning establishments are excellent with my favorite being the Snake River Grill. The pool area - well, what can you say about perfection? It's simply awesome. You have the very best variety of both slot and table games available. Other than simply size, there is nothing in Vegas that can best what you folks have to offer your guest. The High Stakes Area is fantastic and the service is outstanding. Your comp program and monthly flyer are two more items that make L' Auberge so special to me. I want everyone who has never stayed overnight to know that the room and suite accomodations are fabulous and more than match what any other casino has to offer. One of my very favorite areas that I enjoy immensely in order to just unwind and relax is the cozy VIP Lounge. The staff there are extremely courteous and have the expertise and knowledge to make just about any cocktail of your choice. Sitting by the beautiful fireplace is such a pleasure and an excellent way to forget the hectic pace of our day to day activities. The only recommendation I can make is one mutually felt by every single member who I have spoken to in the VIP Lounge over the years. That being the caliber of the food served to your most loyal and dedicated customers. It is nothing more than a relish tray with cold cuts and there is no variety from week to week. It has remained the same since the initial opening. All of your 4 & 5 Star Members would appreciate occasionally some hot hors d'oeuvres that we can truly enjoy along with our drinks. I will be back soon. Thanks again for your top management style that keeps L' Auberge # 1.

Dennis R. Hollander - Houston, Texas
